Hear, Obey, and Find Great Blessing

Hearing and Doing…

Jesus spoke to people questioning and doubting his message's authority.

Even His own brothers did not believe in him (see John 7:5)

And this is what He said, “If anyone’s will is to do God’s will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority.”

Making the connection

This is a very important passage.

It is the one who is intent on doing God’s will that will understand His Word.

It’s easy to read and walk away without thinking of how we actually walk in the world according to the Word.

There’s a reason so many men find no joy in spending time with God meditating on His Word…it’s because they do no intend to do what His Word says.

A Warning from James and Jesus

James1:22-25
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror.
24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like.
25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

John 15:4 ~ You are My friends if you do what I command you.

John 14:23 ~ If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word.

Hear, Obey, Blessing

This is the path.

What you hear from Jesus, be intent on obeying. What you will find is great joy in hearing more and obeying more.

It’s not always easy, but it is rewarding.
